Yesterday was the first annual World Mermaid Awards (aka Mercon) held in Las Vegas. My friends and I where lucky enough to attend this gathering of all things Mer-folk! The lovely ladies and mermen had to be carried on stage, since none of the contestants can walk while wearing a tail. 

The convention was full of tail makers, hair falls and jewelry perfect for a sea princess! In the middle of all of this- the convention hosted the first ever Mermaid Beauty Pageant, complete with "Most Realistic Tail" award! The closest I've been to a beauty contest is watching Toddlers and Tiara's so to see an actually pageant up close (complete with mer-stagemoms) was a total....Experince!
